The Gaming Giant Recruits Apex Legends Developer to Rescue Challenged Hero Shooter Project Ethos
The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the upcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Management Shift Comes After Lukewarm Feedback
Brinkman steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last fall.
On Wednesday, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this decision through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a clearer vision.
Ismailer stated that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Acquisitions
This announcement mirrors a similar step taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on Rod Fergusson from the Diablo team to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the full message from Ismailer's announcement:
