Fringe Players Seize the Moment
This occasion offered a platform for several Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a another, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The visitors were further weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring with his very first touch, but saw his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
