Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking official commented the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
